NYFW: Tory Burch Spring 2011

One of the most fun shows I attended during fashion week was Tory Burch.  It was another presentation where the models stand on the raised platform and like Chris Benz, it got a little crazy after the celebrities arrived. (Yes, I was standing behind Kayne West!) As you all know, orange is my favorite color and there was a lot for Spring 2011 mixed with khaki and neutrals.  The colors of the clothing transitioned down the line to pink, navy and white with pops of yellow and green.  Tory called the collection "elegant sportif" and said, " "it's all about making a woman feel and look beautiful."  Like a lot of what we saw during fashion week, it has a light 1970's feeling and the Baja sweaters will bring back a lot of great memories for those who actually wore them in the 1970's! Tory's friend Marjorie Gubelmann tweeted that that is was "chic, wearable and affordable" and I think that sums it up perfectly!

Profile in Style: Aerin Lauder

One of my favorite summer things that I mentioned in my feature on Tory Burch's blog is Estee Lauder Self Tanner so it was fun to see all of Aerin Lauder's favorite things in T Magazine today.  I love the bar in her apartment above but what I am dying over are the custom make up bags that she designs for her friends.  Check them out here.  Oh, and the  Twombly's not bad either!

Vote Early and Often!

I was honored to be one of the bloggers and editors asked to style a model in Tory Burch denim last night at the designers chic Meatpacking District store. My look along with the others are now up for view on the Tory Burch Facebook page where you can vote for your favorite look. Needless to say, I hope you will vote for mine above! I love myself a tie neck blouse and this exactly the same kind of look I would wear with dark jeans.  (I would just swap out the booties for flats.)  I was beyond excited when the model actually said she liked it!  Of course, I wish could look as tall and skinny as her but what can you do?! Don't forget to vote!  Winning would definitely make me feel better!

Chic Reads

I have been trying to ignore the feeling that I might be coming down with something in the hope that it would go away but no such luck.  Since I am a little under the weather, I thought I would ask you to do more of the work today.

Tory Burch recently posted a fun feature on her blog entitled Tastemaker's Summer Reading List which I loved. Each tastemaker gave an example of the "Book I'm Reading Now", "Book that Changed My Life", and "Book I Give as a Gift." I loved reading their responses and I hope she doesn't mind if I borrow her idea today! I'll start it off and then I want to hear your answers!  Those of you who only read my posts in an email or reader will have to come back to the blog and check out what everyone is reading and giving!

Book I'm Reading Now: I always feel like I'm reading nine books at once but Parisians: An Adventure History of Paris is the one currently sitting on my nightstand.

Book that Changed My Life: Beverly Cleary and Judy Bloom changed my life growing up but the two books that really changed my life were The Catcher in The Rye and The Secret History by Donna Tart.

Book I Give as a Gift: I Love Your Style by Amanda Brooks is what I'm giving to my fashion friends.

Now it's your turn!

N.B. I found the image of the bookshelves on I Suwannee but there was no designer credited.  If anyone knows who designed this room, please let me know!  Thanks!
